Super-fast sloppy joe hot dog
Ingredients
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) olive oil
- 450 g (1 lb) lean ground pork
- 250 ml (1 cup) grated carrots
- 1 chopped yellow onion
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 500 ml (2 cups) salsa or more to taste
- Salt and pepper from the mill
- 12 hot dog buns
Path to follow
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil and cook the meat and onion for 5 minutes.
- Add the rest of the ingredients except the hot dog buns and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Place the meat mixture in an airtight container.
- Reheat and spoon into hot dog buns just before serving. This topping can also be used for a shepherd's pie, for a pasta topping or in a plate of meal nachos.
For adventurers
Replace hot dog buns with hard taco shells.
Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro.
