New habits to adopt

1- Plan meals for the week

If you are one of the 65% of Canadian households who plan their dinner the same day, it's time to join the minority! Planning your meals for the week the weekend before will allow you to be more relaxed when you get home from work and lighten your mental load considerably. In addition, your meals will certainly be more balanced and your budget will thank you! To help you, use a weekly planner to write down planned meals, adopt batch cooking and use the Belles Combines storage method.

2- Develop children's autonomy

Developing children's autonomy will not only allow them to acquire skills that will be useful to them throughout their lives, but also free up your energy and time in everyday life. To make it easier for you and theirs, install visual cues that will allow them to easily follow the different steps of their routine or know the tasks they have to accomplish. And, of course, don't forget to reward them for their efforts and accomplishments!

3- Adopt a household chores routine

To benefit from a clean and tidy home, it is important to adopt an effective housework routine that will last over time and in which each member of the family can collaborate. To do this, be sure to separate the household chores according to their frequency of execution (daily, weekly or monthly) and write them down on a large chart that everyone can access. Finally, ask each member of the family to complete at least one task per day during the week and finalize together what has not yet been done during the weekend.

4- Reduce screen time

Screens can quickly become invasive and harm the development of children and family relationships, and it is therefore important to control and reduce their daily use. To help you in this process, you can in particular use a table which will indicate to your children the different activities to carry out before being entitled to screen time. You can also lead by example and adopt screen-free "5 à 8" as a family for a few weeks a year or, why not, every weeknight!

5- Organize space effectively

A tidy space allows us to have clear ideas and to be able to organize ourselves more easily. To do this, make sure you have a well-identified storage space for everything in the house and include children in storing their books, toys and school effects. If possible, challenge yourself this year to clean up, tidy up and organize a new room in the house every month!
