Apple granola bars
Ingredients
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) butter
- 375 ml (1 ½ cups) all-purpose flour
- 250 ml (1 cup) quick-cooking rolled oats
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) ground flax seeds
- 2.5 ml (½ tsp) ground nutmeg
- 2.5 ml (½ tsp) baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 2 small apples, peeled and cut into small ½ cm x ½ cm dice
- 250 ml (1 cup) unsweetened apple compote
- 125 ml (½ cup) lightly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 60 ml (¼ cup) canola oil
Path to follow
- Preheat the oven to 400F.
- Butter a rectangular baking pan.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, ground flax seeds, nutmeg, baking powder and salt. To book.
- In another bowl, combine all the other ingredients and pour into the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix well.
- Spoon into the pan and bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the mixture comes out clean.
For adventurers
Add 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of cardamom and 125 ml (½ cup) of raisins to the mixture.
