Chicken burgers, tzaziki sauce
Ingredients
For the burgers
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
- 450g (15 oz) ground chicken or 1 package 450g (15 oz) herbed firm tofu, finely crumbled
- 1/2 punnet of Paris mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper from the mill
- 8 hamburger buns
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) plain Greek yogurt
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) mayonnaise
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) finely chopped English cucumber
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- Juice and zest of half a lemon
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) chopped fresh mint
- Salt and pepper from the mill
- A few slices of tomatoes
- A few lettuce leaves
Procedure
- In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, mushrooms, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt and pepper. Form 8 patties.
- In a large skillet, heat the oil and cook the patties for 5 minutes on each side or until cooked through.
- In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the tzaziki sauce and set aside.
- When ready to serve, grill burger buns and garnish with tzaziki sauce, a few slices of tomatoes and lettuce leaves.
For adventurers
When ready to serve, garnish with:
- A few slices of raclette cheese
- A dash of sriracha sauce to add spice!
