Chicken burgers, tzaziki sauce

Treat yourself to our unique burgers, made with minced chicken or herbed tofu, topped with button mushrooms and a hint of garlic. Serve them with our homemade tzatziki sauce, a creamy blend of Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, cucumber, garlic, lemon and fresh mint. Served on toasted burger buns, topped with fresh tomato slices and crisp lettuce, these burgers are a refreshing and indulgent take on the American classic and are perfect for a cozy outdoor meal or a family dinner.

  • Ingredients

    • 30 ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
    • 450g (15 oz) minced chicken or 1 pack of 450g (15 oz) finely crumbled firm tofu with herbs
    • 1/2 punnet of finely chopped button mushrooms
    • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
    • 125 ml (1/2 cup) bread crumbs
    • 1 egg
    • Salt and pepper from the mill
    • 8 hamburger buns

    For the tzaziki sauce:

    • 125 ml (1/2 cup) plain Greek yogurt
    • 125 ml (1/2 cup) mayonnaise
    • 60 ml (1/4 cup) finely chopped English cucumber
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
    • Juice and zest of half a lemon
    • 15 ml (1 tbsp) chopped fresh mint
    • Salt and pepper from the mill

    Toppings:

    • A few slices of tomatoes
    • A few lettuce leaves
  • Preparation

    1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, mushrooms, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt and pepper. Form into 8 patties.
    2. In a large skillet, heat the oil and cook the patties for 5 minutes on each side or until cooked through.
    3. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the tzaziki sauce and set aside.
    4. When ready to serve, grill burger buns and top with tzaziki sauce, a few slices of tomato and lettuce leaves.
