Pizza pide with beef and vegetables
Ingredients
- 30 ml (2 tbsp.) olive oil
- 900g (2 lb) pizza dough
- 225g (1/2 lb) ground beef
- 250 ml (1 cup) tomato sauce
- ½ block firm tofu, crumbled
- 2 cups (500 ml) leftover chopped cooked vegetables
- 375 ml (1½ cups) grated cheese
- Salt and pepper from the mill
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400F.
- In a skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat and cook the crumbled tofu and ground beef for 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Crumble the beef well while cooking.
- Add sauce and chopped cooked vegetables and simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes.
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle about ½ cm thick and cut into 6.
- Pinch the ends of the 6 pasta to form a boat. Place on a large nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet.
- Top each boat with the beef mixture and sprinkle each pizza pide with 60 ml (¼ cup) of shredded cheese.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the pies are golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
For adventurers
Replace the tomato sauce with the same amount of Alfredo sauce.
