Italian submarines
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. (30ml) olive oil
- 300 g (⅔ lb) beef fondue
- 150 g (⅓ lb) sliced pepperoni
- 1 cup (250 mL) grated mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups (500 mL) chopped iceberg lettuce
- 2 sliced ripe tomatoes
- ¼ to ½ cup (60 to 125 ml) Italian dressing
- Salt and pepper from the mill
- 4 submarine buns
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a skillet, heat 2 tbsp. (30 ml) olive oil and cook beef fondue over medium-high heat for 1 minute on each side or until cooked through. Add salt and pepper to taste. To book.
- Open sub buns and top with cooked beef, pepperoni and shredded cheese.
- To serve immediately: Place the subs in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Add lettuce, a few slices of tomato and drizzle with vinaigrette.
- If you do not want to serve immediately, place the filled breads in the refrigerator before baking. All you have to do is cook when the time is right.
For adventurers:
Replace the grated mozzarella cheese with a ball of sliced mozzarella di bufala.
