Practical Minimalism and Mental Space: Five Rules to Follow to Lighten Your Daily Life

Being a minimalist is not just about living in a sometimes boring, all-white space and owning very few objects. Practical minimalism also applies to the management of one's mental space. The idea is to simplify one's existence with the ultimate goal of creating enough space to live and gaining time for what really matters and finally taking back control of one's daily life.

Obviously, to achieve this, it is therefore important to do less on a daily basis, and thus to define what your priorities are and what you really want to invest your time in. You have to evaluate what is superfluous and what you can therefore let go of in order to have time to take good care of the essential basis of your existence .

So here are the five rules to follow to get there:

  • Taking shortcuts
  • Have routines
  • Making room for satisfying rituals
  • Break down larger tasks into smaller chunks
  • Freeing yourself from the “I have to...”
