Organize Easter without stress: simplified traditions

27 March, 2026

Easter is fast approaching, and with it comes a host of preparations: chocolates to buy, meals to plan, activities for the children, family gatherings... What if this year, you truly enjoyed this family time without getting overwhelmed by logistics? Here are a few suggestions to simplify your Easter traditions, without losing their magic!

Start by defining what truly matters

Before you start planning, ask yourself a simple question: what do my children usually remember about Easter? Often, it's not the perfection of the table decorations or the variety of chocolates received, but rather the egg hunt in the garden, the family meal, and the joy of a shared activity!

Identify your two or three essential traditions and focus your energy on them. For the other tasks you usually have on your list at this time of year, simplify, delegate, or eliminate them, guilt-free!

Plan ahead

The stress of Easter often comes from realizing too late that you haven't bought the chocolates, forgotten to invite the grandparents, or have no idea what's on the menu. The solution: anticipate and plan effectively!

Here's a list to help you remember everything:

  • Approximately two weeks before: decide on the Easter meal menu and send out invitations if applicable.
  • Approximately 1 to 2 weeks before: buy chocolates and small gifts for the egg hunt.
  • A few days before: prepare creative activities (egg coloring, crafts, or opt for a ready-made activity!).
  • The day before: prepare whatever can be made in advance for cooking, and hide the eggs if the hunt is indoors. To add a touch of magic, download this fun visual!

Take the time to note down the tasks to be completed in a convenient place (like the Octave app, for example!) so you don't forget anything, can track them effectively, and share the work with your partner and children. Add a recurrence, and you'll have a ready-made list for next year, without even having to think about it!

Involve the children in the preparation

Children love to contribute, especially when the task has a festive side. Here are some ways to get them involved:

  • Table decoration: make small paper nests together, color hard-boiled eggs, or create simple decorations with recycled materials.
  • Basket preparation: if you have a tradition of giving your children Easter baskets filled with surprises, ask the older ones to fill those of their younger siblings — they'll surely love playing Easter Bunny!
  • Help in the kitchen: bunny-shaped cookies to decorate, Rice Krispies squares, or muffins for brunch are perfect recipes to make as a family.

Simplify the meal

The Easter meal certainly doesn't need to be a gourmet feat! Instead, focus on a simple and well-executed main dish, a few side dishes you master, and a dessert that the children helped with. If you're hosting family, don't hesitate to ask everyone to bring something to make your task easier.

To help you, here are some simple recipes perfect for the occasion:

This year for Easter, choose simplicity. Plan what needs to be planned, delegate what you can, and leave room for the unexpected. Because a relaxed mom at the Easter table is the best gift you can give your family!

Happy Easter! 🐣
